Freedom from Shame: Receiving God’s Grace and Forgiveness

What the World Says

The world says: We don’t deserve forgiveness.

The world constantly reminds us of our failures. It tells us that our past mistakes should define us and that guilt and shame are things we must carry with us forever.

But Jesus offers us something completely different.

What Jesus Says About Grace

Jesus says we are able to grasp the gift of God’s grace and forgiveness no matter what we have done, said, or thought in our past.

We may feel guilty and undeserving, but Jesus died for our sins and paid the ultimate price. There is nothing we can do to change that.

Because of His sacrifice, forgiveness is available to us.

Letting Go of Shame

If you are riddled with shame, ask the Lord for forgiveness and begin to walk out your life free of guilt, free of condemnation, and free of obligation.

When we walk in the freedom that Jesus gives us, we are released from the shackles of shame, temptation, sin, and guilt.

Freedom from the Bondage of Sin

We will still be sinners, but we no longer have to be bound up in sin.

Sin does not have to rule our lives. We no longer have shackles around our feet creating drag and struggle in our everyday walk.

When we turn away from sinful ways, we are able to step into what God has for us—a life marked by:

  • Compassion

  • Kindness

  • Humility

  • Gentleness

  • Patience

As written in Colossians 3:12, we are called to clothe ourselves with these qualities as God’s chosen people.

Living a Life Full of Grace

When we live a life in the fullness of God’s grace, even when we mess up we can run to the Father for forgiveness and peace.

Let today be the day you turn to Jesus. Let Him heal you and lead you to repentance and forgiveness. He will continue to forgive you all the days of your life.

This doesn’t give us a free pass to sin. Instead, grace changes our hearts so that obedience to God’s way becomes the path we truly desire to walk. Living for Him becomes our ultimate destination.

You will live your best life when the grace of the Lord covers your every day.

“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.”
